The world has enough naysayers. What we need is thanks-givers.
This verse in Joshua makes me think about my collecting years versus my assigned task. I am not looking to conquer Texas or unseat any local rulers, but my battles are just about as bloody. They lie within. I consider the size and scope of my heart and soul and I know that there is still a lot of ground to be taken.
The forty designated stops in the wilderness afforded the Israelites time to learn live as sons and daughters of the living God. Similarly, we are transformed along our trek.
These feel like clear instructions to the pastor: stay about the Father’s business and keep leading His flock toward to the mountain of God.
We look at Jochebed and remember that the faith required for mothering never lessons, it only enlarges as our kids take stronger and stronger flight from the proverbial nest. We trust God for our children over and over again until we all arrive safe at Home.
God is not slow in keeping His promise, we are slow in letting His promise keep us. The the journey slows down, it is grace so we can catch up to where God longs for us to live: unafraid, totally devoted, excited about the future with Him.
