From Funeral Processions to Parades

“Young man, I say to you, get up!” He is somehow authoritative and loving at the same time; wielding the tone and affection your father would use to steer you away from danger. Suddenly the weigh shifts in the bier upon your shoulders and you nearly topple from the unexpected nature of it. Dead boys don’t speak but it seems the widow’s deceased son is sitting up and having a conversation with this strange teacher. Good glory, what just happened?

The Adulterous Woman

Honestly, most of us are not going to have an affair with a wayward man or woman. But the probability of us engaging in idolatrous behavior? That is quite high. Idols seduce us. Idols drag us away from our covenant. Idols will ultimately lead us to death.

An Embankment

When we resist God’s salvation offer, we invite the worst the enemy has to offer into our lives. He sets up ramps against us, readies himself to do battle on every side and sees fit to destroy us completely. But what happens when we surrender first to a loving God and gracious Savior?

Live Oaks

As believers, we are called oaks of righteousness; a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor. Like the glorious live oaks of the coastal region, we are created to stand firm and provide a place of respite amidst our branches. Hurting people find hope, rest and manna within the well-watered limbs of a thriving, growing church.
