In the crush of grief, Jesus asks us, really dares us, to look more closely at Him and to hold out for His forthcoming reality. As believers, our existence will not end in death. Our loved ones fall asleep and when that sleep comes we’ll be tempted to forget about the promise yet to come. That is why it is imperative that we pull close to our Savior and trust His report over our own crashing emotions.

The term Prince of Peace is not an optimistic claim on Christ’s life and ministry but an accurate description of who Christ is. Peace is a Person and this Person left heaven and lived on earth as an olive branch extended toward humanity. He came as a babe in a manger to grow up and build a bridge of peace between God and man.

Friend, you don’t have to wait until the dregs of your marriage to ask for Jesus’ intervention. He comes where He is invited. Don’t just bid Him to the wedding, include Him in the marriage. Keep Him at the center of your union by praying with and for your spouse every day.
Right now, we are all looking down. Our eyes and hearts and minds are fixed on these little screens. It’s almost like worship, isn’t it?
