Like the kings of ages past, we think we can improve upon God’s plan with our ingenuity and affluence. But really, everything beyond God’s good instruction will be torn down and burnt up.

We allow ordinary people to rule our affections (heart), motives (soul), thoughts (mind) and actions (strength). When we seek to please mere people, we dethrone the one true King.
Worshiping our offspring will keep us from our primary purpose with them: parenting. It will also distract and ultimately detract our worship from the one true God.
Stepping into a new year is cause for excitement but also anxiety, especially in the wake of a year like 2020.
