So often we get silence from God and we assume He’s left the premises. We interpret stillness as abandonment, when truly, He’s working behind the scenes. We must recall: abandonment is not a part of God’s nature.
Still is a strange word, a little unsettling even. But it is the word that has been chasing me down and soothing my spirit for the last month or so.
Marriage requires a long holding. The trouble is, we get disenchanted, annoyed, exhausted or infuriated and we begin to lessen our grip. We allow our marital vows to become distant memories instead of building on them as the framework for day to day living.
It occurs to me today that if we can trust the Sovereign Lord’s strength on the heights, then we can trust his strength to tread through the bottoms, too. At all altitudes, He is faithful.
