We read of God’s instructions for King Solomon and realize that integrity of heart and faithfulness are impossible apart from the Father. Proximity breeds purity. Distance produces degeneration. We must stay near to God; on the heels of his holiness. We cannot live for Him on our own.

When we resist God’s salvation offer, we invite the worst the enemy has to offer into our lives. He sets up ramps against us, readies himself to do battle on every side and sees fit to destroy us completely. But what happens when we surrender first to a loving God and gracious Savior?
Remember, the prodigal’s father is a description of Father God. He’s the One pacing the proverbial front porch, waiting for any sign on the horizon of wayward kids coming home. He runs out to meet us with forgiveness and restoration in hand: ready and willing to clothe us in righteousness and receive us again as beloved members of his household.
