We are almost all carrying a heavy load and searching for a safe place to set it down for a few minutes of relief.
The conviction of God is not an insult, but a gracious invitation to change. It’s the Almighty allowing His people an opportunity to identify their offense and alter their course. God sends conviction along with the grace we’ll require when we recognize our sin. He knows how it hurts to acknowledge our failure.
We tend to look outward instead of inward, don’t we? We tend to focus on the faults of others – which we have no control over – even though we still have a long ways to grow ourselves. There’s enough going wrong within our own frames to keep us busy until Jesus comes back.
