We were designed to abdicate to our King and allow Him to rule our hearts and lives.
We look to to the holy God and we recall how His Kingdom is coming; a Kingdom of righteousness and truth and total restoration.
I don’t know about you, but ‘subverting’ isn’t a word I employ on a regular basis. Whenever I encounter an unfamiliar word in scripture, I look it up to ensure accurate understanding. ‘Subvert’ does not disappoint.
Our flesh fights it, but there is great freedom in submission.
“Which God will bring about in His own time – God the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” (1 Timothy 6:14 NIV) Sometimes we struggle to forgive because we believe someone else’s actions or inactions have altered our future…
To put this verse into modern terms, God the Father just handed over His keys, His wallet and His iPhone to His only Son. Not just to a station wagon, a rental house and a ten thousand dollar credit line, but to the UNIVERSE. God gave Jesus the authority He required to give eternal life; but we recognize the temptation involved in wearing such authority even for a little while.
The shepherds had an encounter with God’s Kingdom. And then they were left with a choice: obey God or stay put.
We face the same sort of choice when we encounter Christ. We can stay the same or we can respond to what we’ve heard and seen.
We’ve spent a lot of time together in God’s Word this month. What is your response? Will you act? Will you retell your story? Will you spread the message of Jesus to all who will listen?
Joy is a choice and you’re not going to believe who it benefits!
