Dear Father

“I planned what I’d say if you returned to me: ‘Good! I’ll bring you back into the family. I’ll give you choice land, land that the godless nations would die for.’ And I imagined that you would say, ‘Dear father!’ and you would never again go off and leave me.” (Jeremiah 3:19 MSG)

A daughter trusting her father completely.

God has hopes and dreams for us. He’s very clear about His desire for His children from the very beginning – that we would be His holy people and He would be our God. He repeats this dream over and over throughout the Old Testament and New. It is the opening scene: Eden, and the closing one: the new heavens and new earth. Restoration through Him and to Him is His singular goal. The loving Father wants all His kids to come home.

Can you see it in scripture? Can you close your eyes and hear the Spirit calling you to complete wholeness in Him? Doesn’t creation bear witness of this total restoration year after year? Don’t we wake into this world with an unquenchable desire to belong? It’s all on purpose and part of the Father’s plan for His family.

“Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making His home with men and women! They’re His people, He’s their God! (Revelation 21:3 MSG)

Beloved, we don’t have to wait until the revelation of all things to belong. We can be His people today. We might surrender to His Spirit this very hour. The home we are seeking is Him and we are allowed early occupancy.

Father God, Your perfect plan becomes more clear each day. You long to have Your children restored to You. That’s what Your Son, Jesus’ suffering was all about: atonement for the sake of relationship. We see Your agenda clearly and we give way to it, ever more ready to come home to You. Amen.
