“She was thinking to herself, “If I can just put a finger on His robe, I’ll get well.” (Matthew 9:21 MSG)
The woman with the issue of blood had come to the end of her rope in every way. She was completely and utterly spent. Her wealth was gone; wasted on doctors who could not get her well. Her position in the community non-existent; an unclean woman could not interact with others. Her pride was stripped away; it seems she approached Jesus on hands and knees, crawling through the crowd to get close .
She believed if she could just get to Jesus, He would set her system right. He would restore her.
What a reminder for each of us!
We bankrupt ourselves on lesser things when Jesus is the source of all we need. Like this woman, we take great risk to touch Jesus and our abandonment and faith is rewarded.
“The woman was well from then on.” (Matthew 9:22 MSG)
Let that verse wash over you a moment. Let it settle into your soul.
“The woman was well from then on.” (Mattew 9:22 MSG)
That’s what I want more than another pair of shoes or a pinterest perfect home. I want it more than a storybook romance or a fat bank account. I want to be well from now on. I want to live wholeheartedly in Christ.
Lord, may loss push us further into Your presence. May reduction drive us in Your direction. Give us courage to reach out for You, desperate to grab hold of deep healing ourselves. Send us away well, Lord. Amen.
