“After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. The Twelve were with Him, and also some of the women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joannea, the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.” (Luke 8:1-3 NIV)
Cured women stay with Jesus. They find that the long-term solution for their shame situation is the unbroken presence of Jesus. His nearness chased away their ugliest belief about themselves. Time in His company reshaped their thinking. They found truth and purpose and value in Him.
Cured women reinvest their lives in Kingdom things. I suspect these women had invested an incredible amount in shame. If thoughts were dollars and coins, the balance on their shame accounts pre-Jesus was sky high. Cured women find something better to invest in. Cured women put their resources into the Kingdom. These women took all the energy and assets they previously spent on shame and now they spent themselves in ministry; completely and freely.
Cured women are contagious. These women who had been miraculously freed from sin and shame were now drawing others to Him like moths to light The shame-free identity they discovered in Christ is attractive. A woman who has experienced wholeness in Jesus can show the way to other women.
“As scripture says, “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 10:11 NIV)
Lord, we long to live as cured people. Thank You for addressing our sin and shame. May we reinvest our lives in Your presence, in Your Kingdom and making You famous. Amen.
